| Project Exploration Geologist, West Africa A world leader in the Mining and Exploration has a contract vacancy for the right candidate with extensive experience. Will be based in London with 2 weeks in every monthly spent in West Africa. Fluency in French essential. The Company operates to the highest standards of exploration, mining and processing techniques and in its commitment to health, safety, environmental and local communities. Exploration is the most cost-effective way of delivering new resources to the Group and the search is conducted throughout the world. The Africa Europe Region of the Exploration Group aim to discover and identify mineral resources mainly in Africa and Europe that can be profitably mined. Currently the Africa Europe Region’s portfolio includes coal, diamonds, copper and other projects Recent reviews have identified a number of iron ore targets in the WAOID countries (Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia) that merit further investigation and if possible title acquisition. In addition there are a number of bauxite targets in Guinea that merit title acquisition and further work. The role of Project Geologist is being established to undertake the exploration work required in order to evaluate these opportunities and bring them in due course to the “order of magnitude” stage. Responsibilities: · The Project Geologist – would be responsible for the design of the exploration programmes · Preparation of budgets · Recruitment of the team · Implementation of the work and reporting of results · To maintain good relations with the governments of the region in order to ensure that RTE is the explorer of choice · An additional requirement of the role is for the incumbent to be the AER representation on the global prioritisation team for iron ore which has the task of ensuring that RTE focuses on the best worldwide opportunities To be successful in this role you will require: · Comprehensive understanding of iron ore mineralization and exploration methods used for resource discovery and evaluation · Familiarity with working in West Africa and/or other similar developing countries · Experience in managing exploration teams in remote locations · Over 10 years of experience · B.Sc. or M.Sc. in geology · Fluency in French · Familiarity with the implementation of RTE HSEC systems. | |
